You will find here anything that keeps its leaf, but isn't a conifer !!  As a general rule, they are all acid lovers, site all evergreens out of cold drying winter winds. When the ground is frozen in winter, plants are unable to take up moisture to compensate for the desiccating effects of the wind.

A happy marriage of 'sempervirens' cute leaves and the good green winter color of 'koreana'. The 'mountain' is quite a steep column, a nice accent, pot plant or lined up like soldiers to form a hedge.

'Green Velvet' is more rounded than its sibling of the same parentage, but with the same desirable attributes as  listed  above.

Leucothoe recommend themselves to us as a deer resistant evergreen, with dramatic changes in foliage color. They test a lot of gardeners. If planted in the wrong place they are prone to leaf diesease. We have had luck with them in shade and hummus rich, moisture retentive well drained soil. Anything other and they won't be happy.

Nice edge plant in hummus rich shady border. White flowers in July. Leaves turn a rich burgundy/purple fall color as good as 'Rogers Burgundy' below.
